Community Service Officers
Effective Jan. 1,2002 Brandi Frazier has been re-assigned for 6
months to be acting sergeant of Community Service Officers for Hamilton.
We welcome our acting Community Service Officer
Greg Doerr he can be reached at Brandi's former phone number: 905-546-4906.
The Eyes Have It
Thanks to Carol for hosting a street NW meeting. Residents on Charlton
Ave. between Queen & Kent came together to discuss concerns
and solutions to resent vandalism, B&E's and theft of wheels
on a car parked on the street. Sheila, our new beat officer Vince
Ariemma & myself were invited.
It is great to see a Watch in action.
Editorial Board
The webmaster of lockestreet.com has asked our Neighbourhood Watch
to organize an Editorial Board.
This has come about because of changes coming to LockeStreet.com
that will give our Neighbourhood Watch greater responsibility for
our own content and ease the webmasters role.
Our Editorial Board would consist of myself and preferably 2 additional
block captains. Editing of the newsletter will take place using
email and the web site. Board members would review content, spelling
and presentation before public posting of pages and sending of the
eNewsletter. No specialized web experience is necessary.
If you are interested or would like to learn more, please contact
the webmaster.
Meet with the Mayor
Sheila has arranged to meet with Mayor Bob Wade the first Tuesday
of each month @ City Hall from 4:30 to 6:30. This forum would be
used to address Neighbourhood Watch issues such as graffiti, etc.
If you are interested, Sheila is looking for at least 1 other person
to accompany her.
Please contact Sheila at nw@lockestreet.com
Relay For Life
WE NEED YOU
Once again our NW is participating in this great fund raiser for
cancer happening June 21-22, 2002 at the Dofasco Park, on the far
east mountain in Hamilton.
Many from our neighbourhood are already participating and we are
working on our SECOND team of ten.
For more information, please contact Sheila at nw@lockestreet.com
Last years Relay For Life (held overnight from Friday June 22 to
Saturday June 23, 2001 at Dofasco Park) was a great success raising
$110,000 for Cancer charity. Our own Neighbourhood Watch raised
more than $1,200!! This was an all night experience for a very worthwhile
cause.
The Writing (Has to Come OFF) the Wall!
KNNW and LockeStreet.com are teaming up again to eliminate the
growing graffiti problem in our neighbourhood.
Read more about this in the Kirkendall News, or at LockeStreet.com
and join in a discussion
forum on the issue.
Thanks for reading another issue of The Watch and for supporting
your Neighbourhood Watch!
Regards,
Richard Palmer,
Assistant Co-ordinator, Kirkendall North Neighbourhood Watch
