The Eyes Have It
MANY VANS HAVE BEEN STOLEN IN OUR AREA THIS PAST MONTH.
Thanks to observant neighbours and police, fortunately some of
the vehicles have been recovered and also the criminals have been
captured. Some of the criminals are 13 to 16 year old youths. 4
of these 5 local youths were 13 year old girls.
Unfortunately there was a lot of damage to vehicles, financial costs
and stress on the vehicle owners. Our thanks to P.C. Ken Wilson
for his many personnel visits to my home to update me on this and
other issues in our community.
Crime Alert
Thanks to our block captains, our Neighbourhood Watch has distributed
1200 fliers to the area. Below is the contents of this yellow drop
off.
---
CRIME ALERT
THEFTS FROM YOUR VEHICLE
- Park your vehicle in a well lighted area
- Never leave your keys in the ignition
- Lock the doors
- Install an audible alarm system
- Use a "Club" on the steering wheel
WHAT TO DO WITH VALUABLE ITEMS IN THE VEHICLE
- Do not leave valuables in plain sight
- Put the valuable in the trunk or cover them up
- Mount compact disc players and car phones inconspicuously
- Use mountings that will allow for easy removal of the equipment
for safekeeping
---
REMEMBER: IF YOU CAN SEE THE VALUABLES IN THE VEHICLE, SO CAN THE
THIEF!
Have a safe summer,
Richard
